Dog Days

“. . . the dog ate our van!”

Some say we live in a dog-eat-dog world. Not so for Adam and Emily Morck of Foley, Alabama (population 9,279). For them, it’s weirder than that. It’s a dog-eat-minivan world.

Mr. and Mrs. Morck were preparing for a fishing trip, when Mrs. Morck discovered someone, or something, had vandalized their minivan. The bumper was ripped off and the body was riddled with dents, claw and teeth marks, and blood. The mystery of the mangled minivan was solved when police found one of the Morcks’ terrified cats hiding under the hood and their other cat perched high atop a tree. Investigators concluded the damage was done by a canine culprit.

Lucky for the cats and their nine lives, they survived the ordeal unscathed. But the minivan wasn’t so lucky. And neither are the Morcks. Like schoolchildren, they have the unenviable task of explaining to their insurance company, “the dog ate our van.”
